COVID-19 symptoms vary among people is depending on their blood type and their DNA.
This is according to a new study conducted by a team of European scientists.
As published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
It explains why some people get seriously sick with the virus while others barely show any symptoms at all.
Their findings were that people who are at higher risk of contracting the virus and getting extremely sick from it are from blood type A while people with type O blood have a lower risk.
Researchers claim your blood type is the main reason you may be more or less susceptible to the virus.
Although they detected genetic variations common in the sickest patients and linked it to a person’s blood type.
It is said the variations may be associated with a person’s immune reactions.
Overreaction of the immune system is blamed for the deadliest effects of the COVID 19 in many patients.
The findings are used in designing drugs or vaccines against COVID-19.
